This is our biking trip from July 21, 1997. We biked through
Franconia Notch State Park and the White Mountain National Forest from
Franconia to Lincoln and back again ... just over 30 miles total,
through the mountains both ways.

This is a shot along the Franconia Notch Bike Trail, which is a
paved mini-road that extends 10 miles or so through the mountains. |

This is another shot along the bike trail. It was a nice day. |
 |
We stopped along the way to hike a trail in Franconia Notch; here we
are at the summit of Artist's Bluff. |

Here's another shot from Artist's Bluff, looking out over Echo Lake
towards the Cannon Mountain ski area. |
Statistics (from Chris's odometer):
- max speed: 33 mph
- average speed: 7.2 mph
- total distance: 30 miles
Note: Chris says these could be underestimated by as much as 20%. The
average speed includes anytime the bike was moving, including when it
was walked through a "bike walk zone".
